What happens is only one version of what could have happened. A combination of what is possible, the decisions we make, and randomness. What can happen is largely determined by our world view and our path. Our world view is determined by where we are born, our genetics, and the experiences that present themselves. The decisions we make are based on the way we have seen the world. Our memories. Our relationships. How we piece those memories together to build a story to describe who we are and what we want. Throw the story together with our emotions, and we deal with what the world throws at us. We cope. Our emotions dance with the world - affected by what we eat, how we sleep, the space we make, the support we get and how we deal the the story we are one small part of. We take the next step.

Breaking Possible
As a grand finale to my two months in the US and Canada (Chicago, Seattle, Vancouver, Victoria, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Las Vegas), I went to a show - Absinthe. Somehow the performers manage to move in ways that don't seem possible. Through concentration, strength and flexibility they do things that bend physics to its limit. I don't believe most of the stuff I see shared on line. Photoshop means things that aren't real can look real. But this stuff was flesh, bone and muscle!
Mixed Reality and Virtual Reality are soon going to be a part of our lives. We are going to be able to share experiences like we share information. We will be able to experience what it is like to fly a wingsuit from the safety of the ground. We will be able to feel like we are walking around in Paris when we are in Parys. What we won't be able to share is the hours of effort that go into that level of controlling the body. The ability to zone in. To focus.
Our worlds are already a mixed reality. A mixture of what we believe is possible and what is possible. A mixture of fact and fiction. Sometimes we see things that break our reality. That break possible. Then we can take that spark and go out and make possible.
You can't share flow. You earn it.

A Glimpse of Possibility
Last year, I started writing about my new found hobby of Yoga. I mentioned the 'First Steps' I took towards the headstand, and then the realisation that it doesn't come quickly and sometimes you feel like you are going backwards or starting again. Well, I can now get into a headstand, but that is not the point of this post.
Part of why I really enjoy Yoga is that it feels like you are just scratching the surface. There is always another step to take. Every now and then you get 'a glimpse of possibility'. That is when you can't do something, but you realise that with some effort you can.
I got that in a class yesterday when we attempted a handstand. I couldn't do it. Far from it. But just for a split second, with someone lightly supporting my legs, I felt a moment of balance. It was possible.
