Hey my China

One of my more successful April Fool's jokes this year was telling my mother I was starting in Beijing on 1 July on a 3 year contract.

My Mom is not a fan of China.

The problem is, the idea of me going to work in China at some stage is not all that unlikely. I find the idea fascinating. The majority of `different' countries out there were at some stage touched by European Colonialism. China is completely different. A different culture, philosophy and way of life.

Some interesting things (completely unsubstantiated that I have heard by word of mouth)

1) China is soon (not sure how soon) going to be the biggest English Speaking Country in the world.

2) There are more scholars below the age of 18 learning English than there is population of America.

I will try search the web for some more substantiated interesting facts, but most of the ones I hear blow my mind.
