Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is the ability to understand emotions, and to incorporate them into decision making and action. Many models of the world are reduced to the idea of purely rational, fully aware beings with access to understandable information. Things are more fuzzy than that. We like the idea of a world with cause and effect. A world with a story. Most of the time that is not true. Things often happen for no reason and we have to make decisions with incomplete, imperfect information. EQ helps us connect to the understanding we have in the gaps between understanding.
