Chicago

Home of Obama. A hit musical with Jazz hands and skimpy clothes. Michael Jordan. Deep based pizza pie. A beautiful run along the edge of Lake Michigan. Snow. A lesson in poverty. I struggled to understand poverty in a rich country till visiting Chicago. It isn't about money. A walk along the L-line showed me Apartheid alive and well. Apartheid is about relationships. Apartheid is poverty. A city with it's own character. Not New York. Not Washington DC. The United States is more continent than country. Chicago is more country than city. 3 million people in the city. 10 million people in the metro. A city of change. Alive. Evolving. Bubbling.
