Wiggle Room

There is normally wiggle room with the benefit of hindsight. Asking a question like "You haven't been drinking much water recently, have you?" makes you look correct either way. Yes - "I thought so, health is important to you". No - "I thought so, there is a vitality in your eyes". Predictions are a dime a dozen. Criticism is free. Even a broken clock is right twice a day. The valuable characters are often those who are able to clearly articulate what would change their mind. The more powerful predictions are those where there is no ambiguity in what "Being Wrong" looks like. Don't convince me that you are right. I'll trust you more if you are interested in whether it is true.

"[Great scientists have] bold ideas, but highly critical of their own ideas: they try to find whether their ideas are right by trying first to find whether they are not perhaps wrong. They work with bold conjectures and severe attempts at refuting their own conjectures."
Karl Popper
