Jackson Pollock

Pollock has always been one of my favourite artists (See one of his works below). On Sunday night they played the movie `Pollock’ about his life on MNET. It is well worth the watch… here are a few other movies about artists that I have enjoyed:

• Modigliani
• The Girl With The Pearl Earning
• Frida
• Max (actually more about Hitler)

There are also a number of movies on authors. In most of these movies, and in most accounts I have read, creative genius seems to go hand in hand with destructive behaviour. Maybe it is because madness comes at the extremes of the human experience and you have to go there to move people? Movies, paintings and books about ordinary lives don’t tend to move anyone.

I dislike biopics. I am very suspicious of them.

But then I am on a crusade against realistic stuff so I would be wouldn't I?

You are useless, I thought as my only reader and ardent blogger, you would be able to tell me how to do all the things I wanted to...

simple things like posting photos...

I guess the question is does that make you useless or me useless?

I really enjoy biopics, even if they do twist the truth. Kind of like how I enjoy the TV series ROME.

Since history is by nature dramatized/partly fictional, I still think there is value in trying to make past events tangible or in getting into the head of/giving an impression of influential people.

I don't have anything against biopics in principle. just the predictable way the truth is bent. Lets see. Talented young um overcomes difficulties finds success and a pretty lady. Success makes him arrogant and difficult and often turns him to drugs and booze causing trouble in the marraige...

ummm....

right, see the little picture to the right of the spell check button? click it. should be ok from there. if the connection is slow it will often just fuck out rather than take a long time.

you don't have word 2007 do you? no? Well write your posts in word but do your formatting in blooger by copying and pasting piece by piece. also note that theres a html mode and more standard word like mode. choosing the wordish mode makes things easier.

If you come back with any "well duh" comments about how unhelpful I am there will be a new and very sincere entry on summary justice.
