Wandering Mind

My mind often wanders when I am studying. So I have started keeping a piece of paper on my desk to jot down ideas... hopefully with the sideproduct of refocussing on what I am supposed to be thinking about.

Here are some of the things on the paper... I will expand on them at some stage.

  1. Try more things, then failing isn't so bad as you will succeed more often too
  2. luck often masquerades as skill
  3. Willingness to participate depends on assurity of contract
  4. Willingness vs. Ability to take risk
  5. Know what you don't know
  6. Being too risk averse is expensive
  7. With all the modern access to information, it is impossible to hide.
  8. The Creativity Barrier... what stops us from being creative
  9. Thoughts on Performance Appraisal
  10. Thoughts on Recruitment Processes
  11. With all the new forms of communication, it would be interesting to see a book written in the form of blog posts, sms, email, diary entries and chat room transcripts
  12. % of wealth spent or invested in unproductive assets vs. % of wealth invested in productive assets
  13. Noise
  14. Second Life, Twitter, Ebay
  15. How do you decide what blogs/posts to read when there are so many out there? It would be useful to have a quick rating system that aggregates ratings from readers you trust/have similar tastes to
  16. How much value should we place on someone saying they have `No time' or they are `too busy'. Making time vs. just admitting you have `No interest'
  17. Thoughts on passive vs. active investment
  18. Price limits vs. Vouchers
  19. Transferrable Skills and Unskilled Labour... as I write this I know see the a point, unskilled labour should be able to be prefectly transferable to any task
  20. The power of developing a long term commercial relationship vs. Immediate Gain
  21. Google... and the concept of `best company to work for'
  22. Legacy Issues... even if you change
  23. Getting a Feedback Loop... and listening to it
  24. What skills would you teach at school, ignoring the subjects used... Lateral Thinking, Problem Solving, Creativity, Memory, Speed Reading, Touch Typing, Planning, Study Skills, Communication, Persuasion, Listening, Mental Health, Self Awareness.
  25. Learning Presentation Skills through alternative places... comic books, stand-up commedy, documentaries, advertising
  26. Business Ethics and Professionalism
