Which actor are you looking at?

I spoke in a previous post about speaking the truth as fragments of a picture.

To continue along this line, another `problem' in the attempt to get towards complete honesty is our ability to communicate. It is not possible in my opinion to convey the full extent of a person's thought process. You can involve someone else but the process is never the same.

Just like any two people watching a live performance of a play will see something different. You will be concentrating on different actors. You will notice something on the stage that only a few others did, and even then from another angle. You will see a facial expression, a raised eyebrow... perhaps that not a single other person saw.

In a similar way, I think in trying to find out the truth about a person, a friendship, or a feeling... the best you can do is focus on one actor at a time.

To communicate the truth, you need to write, talk, sing, interact, draw, laugh, cry... etc. etc.

And then there is the fact that we can't do all this with anyone. There will be no one who can be involved in every aspect of your life. Absolutely no one. And if there was, they would still see a different aspect of the truth to you. A slightly different perspective.

I had thought, maybe the only person you can be 100% honest with is a paid psychologist. But even then... they only get to go to a handful of the shows.
