Durban

5km was a long way for me growing up. My Mom worked far away in Pinetown (6.5km). Westville was 14km away from Durban's beaches! Everything I did was normally in the 5km radius of hills. But I am a Durban boy. Shark blood. My Afrikaans is bad enough to tell. I can't jump into water that is too cold. I sing Impi as loudly as people in kilts sing of the Flower of Scotland. Like Bannockburn, Islandlwana made the English think again. Durban has ridiculously hot summers, but mild winters that never come. You'll leave the sea for salty eyes, not for cold.
